My Journey in Finding a Used Freezer

While looking through the local want ads for a freezer for sale, it never fails to amaze me what answering a ad may actually encompass. Not wanting to spend the money necessary to purchase a new one, I thought a used one would be the answer to get me a freezer at a discount rate.

We all know what assuming will get you and yet I continue to assume that whatever it is I am buying used will be cleaned and if stated in good shape and working condition, than that is what I will find. Much to my dismay others idea of clean and mine are totally different. Buyers beware if your looking for a freezer for sale. Be prepared; for every 3 you look at 2 of those probably won’t be what your looking for.

I set out on this adventure with the intention to purchase a freezer by the end of the weekend and have it running and stocked before I returned to work on Monday. My first step was finding what I was looking for in the want ads and after narrowing my search to the final candidates, I then started making calls and setting up appointments to take a look at what I hoped would be my future freezer.

My first appointments was at a farm house out in the country and as I approached the house down the long driveway I was surrounded by dogs that looked at me like I was the next meal. I never thought I would say I was happy to see the character that came walking out of the barn, but it was him or the dogs. He shooed his pack back to the barn and proceeded to introduce himself. I thought that the freezer in question would be located in the house or at least on an enclosed front porch. Again never assume, as the gentleman led me to the barn that appeared to be held up by a few lone beams to what seemed to be the milk house area and sure enough there was the freezer.

The outside was rather rusty in spots but I could have lived with that until he then opened the lid to let me know it worked fine and was cold as ice. He was right it was cold as ice but what he had stored inside was a bunch of raccoons, possums, and ground hogs. Now not eating wild game a lot you would probably wonder how I would of known what meat I was looking at, but in fact it was pretty simple because the animals were still in there natural state as if frozen in time with little eyes staring at me. I quickly closing the lid and informed my potential seller that I still had some other freezers to look at and I would certainly get back with him.

This did not completely sway me from doing any further looking and I did eventually find the freezer for sale of my dreams, so to speak. So again, buyer beware, what you may consider to be unworthy of reselling others think it is a find for anyone who purchases it.

Stainless steel refrigerators are particularly susceptible to finger prints and grease marks, particularly if it is used frequently or if there are children in the house. They tend to become dull over time as dust and grease form a film over the surface. Dirt and neglect can spoil the surface and cause it to lose its stainless finish.

There are lots of specialist cleaners for your stainless steel appliances available in the market. You will discover which one works best for you with experience. Be cautioned that some of them may be harmful to your appliance.

The first thing to remember while cleaning stainless steel refrigerators is to never use abrasive tools or cleaning products. Steel wool is absolutely forbidden. You will end up leaving permanent scratch marks on your refrigerator. You only require ordinary soap and water to do basic cleaning of stainless steel refrigerators. Apply the soap with a clean cloth and use another dry one to wipe it off. Do his carefully else you will leave water streak marks all over the surface.

Fingerprints that are tougher to remove might be dislodged with a dab of baby oil or olive oil on a paper towel. You could also use a normal glass cleaner available in the market.

Another heap and easily available cleaner for stainless steel refrigerators is vinegar. A soft cloth dipped in dilute vinegar should be used to rub the refrigerator’s surface all over. It will remove all residual grease and dust and bring back a shine to the appliance. You could also sprinkle a bit of baking soda on a damp sponge or cleaning cloth and wipe the surface with it.

Whichever product it is that you use to clean your refrigerator, always wipe along the grain so that you don’t cause scratches.
